An interesting question for anyone living in the region at the moment and I'm sure the answer is the latter. How many more innocent men, women and children have to die on both sides before we can really call Israel the promised land? One more is too many in my eyes.
Why do leaders promote killing, death and destruction in a region that God loves so much and who themselves speak in his name. I am sure that many of you would agree that Jews, Muslims and Christians all believe in the same God and in a God that views us as equal brothers. Surely brothers can come to an agreement for a world full of peace, love and understanding.
How can we give these leaders a new vision for their peoples that would result in harmony and prosperity for everyone. First we must learn to respect the small differences that make each religion unique and focus on understanding what we really do have in common. We all have fathers, mothers and children and belonging to a family shows us how to love. The question is where do the limits of your family end?
I understand that we are all capable of almost anything to protect and defend our family members, but one day all the killing has to stop and we have to learn how to forgive. Forgiveness is a wonderful gift that God has taught us all and we are all capable of forgiving our enemies.
As much as I would like to leave religion out of this blog and try and just stick to good old plain common sense, I am afraid it just won't work in these lands that are so rich in faith and prayer. Please leave any relevant comments on this troublesome conflict that could touch the hearts of those people responsible for the decisions of both war and peace in Palestine and the rest of the middle East.
